JPS Medical Recruitment is seeking expressions of interest from Orthopaedic Registrars looking to develop their surgical experience in a high-volume regional service.

This role offers broad exposure across trauma and elective orthopaedics within a supportive consultant-led team. You'll work alongside experienced orthopaedic surgeons with subspecialty interests including arthroplasty, sports, foot and ankle, shoulder and elbow, spine and hand surgery, gaining experience across a diverse case mix while contributing to inpatient, outpatient and theatre services. The department also supports telehealth outreach to surrounding regional and rural communities, providing exposure to a broad referral population.

For eligible international medical graduates, this health service is also an AMC-accredited Workplace Based Assessment (WBA) provider, making it an attractive option for doctors pursuing general registration through the Standard Pathway.

The Hospital

This major regional referral hospital is the principal acute facility for Central Queensland, providing comprehensive specialist services across medical, surgical and critical care disciplines.

- 305-bed referral hospital.
- Comprehensive orthopaedic service supported by subspecialist consultants.
- Dedicated 44-bed surgical ward.
- Five operating theatres plus procedure facilities.
- University teaching environment with medical student involvement.
- Outreach and telehealth services supporting regional and rural communities.

Training & Development The department provides an environment focused on registrar development through close consultant supervision and exposure to a wide spectrum of orthopaedic presentations.

Training opportunities include:





- Broad trauma and elective orthopaedic experience.
- Exposure to arthroplasty, sports, foot and ankle, shoulder and elbow, spine and hand surgery.
- Direct supervision from an experienced consultant group.
- Opportunity to work alongside an AOA SET trainee and established orthopaedic team.
- Multidisciplinary collaboration, including orthogeriatric services.
- Teaching environment with university affiliation.
- Suitable environment for eligible IMGs seeking employment within an AMC-accredited Workplace Based Assessment (WBA) health service.

- Eligible for registration with AHPRA.
- Recent Orthopaedic Surgery experience at Registrar or equivalent level.
