SalaryRange:Base Salary $96,095 per annum + super, plusovertime and penalty rates dependent on work performed. Additionalentitlements and overtime do not form part of theadvertised base salary

Weare looking for a qualified Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanic (HCV)to keep Council’s fleet to a high-quality standard — from lightcommercials and passenger vehicles through to heavytrucks.
Thisposition will be responsible for carrying out diagnostics,scheduled servicing, and general repairs. The duties will includemechanical, electrical, hydraulics, and keeping workshop tools andequipment in good working order. The role also involves basicadministration duties including completing job cards, time sheets,incident logs, refrigerant handling records, and other compliancepaperwork. As we take pride in training the future tradespeople inthe industry, mentoring and training apprentices is as expectationof the position. We expect the successful candidate to be reliable,safety conscious, and committed to providing solid customer servicein a busy workshop environment.
Thisposition also has the option to enter an On-Call roster which willbe responsible for after-hours breakdowns and emergencies for 1week at a time on a 4 -5 week cycle.
Qualificationsand Experience
- Trade Certificate – Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanic (HCV) with the ability to achieve accreditation for all competencies listed in the Position Description.
- High level of knowledge and experience in the repair of light commercial, passenger vehicles and trucks, to include, hydraulic, pneumatic, air conditioning, auto electrical and minor welding repairs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to keep up to date with modern practices relevant to fleet servicing and repair procedures, and the use of various techniques to facilitate the appropriate training of apprentices.
- Well-developed technical, diagnostic and analytical skills relevant to mechanical servicing and repair procedures.
- Basic keyboard and computer literacy skills (or the ability to acquire).
- Time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to achieve desired outcomes within set timeframes.
- Current “MR” class driver’s licence, with the capacity to obtain a “HR” class driver’s licence within six months.
