Toowoomba Regional Council is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Assistant Operator – Water Reclamation to join our Water Operations team at the Wetalla Waste Reclamation Facility.

About the Role

As an Assistant Operator Water Reclamation, you will support the operation and performance of both the:

- Wetalla Wastewater Treatment Facility; and
- Advanced Water Treatment Facility.

You will be responsible for collecting, analysing and reporting on process samples and treated water quality, while assisting with the daily operations and maintenance of the facilities.

This role plays an important part in ensuring Council meets strict environmental and operational standards while delivering sustainable water outcomes for the region.

What You’ll Be Doing

Key responsibilities include:

- Operating treatment plant processes to ensure compliance with operational and environmental requirements
- Monitoring plant performance and identifying faults or process issues
- Collecting, analysing and recording water quality and process data
- Supporting preventative maintenance and day-to-day facility operations
- Maintaining plant facilities and grounds to high cleanliness and hygiene standards
- Working within Council’s Environmental Management System requirements
- Participating in a rotating on-call and weekend roster
- Contributing positively to a cooperative and safety-focused team environment

About the Position

- Permanent Full-Time
- Based at the Wetalla Waste Reclamation Facility
- 76-hour fortnight
- Base salary: $2,679.92 gross per fortnight
- Plus:




- 17.5% annual leave loading
- Up to 12.65% superannuation

Essential / Required Qualifications & Licences

You will hold, or be willing to obtain within the required timeframe:

- Certificate III in Water & Wastewater Operations (within 2 years if not currently held)
- Activated Sludge Biological Nutrient Removal course (within 5 years if not currently held)
- Current unrestricted Manual “C” Class Driver’s Licence
- Forklift (LF) Licence (within 6 months if not currently held)
- First Aid Certificate (within 6 months if not currently held)
- Confined Space Certificate (within 6 months if not currently held)
- White Card / CPCWHS1001 or equivalent (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)

Skills & Experience

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

- Knowledge of wastewater treatment plant operations and processes
- Experience operating and maintaining plant and equipment
- Strong communication and data entry skills
- Ability to work with operational software systems including SCADA and Tech One, or the ability to quickly learn
- Physical capability to undertake labouring and operational duties
- Understanding of environmental and industry compliance requirements
- A commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement
