Overview of the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated groundskeeper to help maintain our grounds, arenas, and shared spaces. The ideal candidate will play an significant role in keeping our property safe, functional, and visually appealing for equestrian events.
Key Responsibilities
Day to day grounds and facility maintenance.
Carry out tasks with safety of the horse at the forefront and follow facility protocols.
Operate machinery including tractors, arena drags, irrigators, mowers, weed trimmers, blowers, and small tools and ability to carry out maintenance on equipment.
Perform manual labour and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Regularly inspect the grounds, arenas, and public areas for hazards such as holes, debris, or broken fencing, and undertake necessary steps to rectify.
Basic landscaping and facility upkeep including mowing, trimming, watering, planting, weed control in landscaped areas and rubbish and manure removal from public spaces, arenas, and aisleways.
Minor maintenance of stables, wash bays, spectator areas, general purpose areas, and parking areas.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Prior equine facility or farm experience – minimum 2 years’ experience.
- Basic mechanical/problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work weekends and extended hours during events.
- A satisfactory Working with Children Check and Criminal Record Check.

Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre (WPNEC) is Victoria’s leading venue for equestrian sports and the largest of its kind in the state.
