Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present high‑quality dishes in line with our menu.
- Set up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment, like knives, pans and kitchen scales.
- Work under the instruction of the head chef, supervising junior staff and assisting as needed.
- Slightly modify recipes to meet customers’ needs and requests (e.g., reduce salt, remove dairy).
- Monitor stock levels and order accordingly to ensure cost effectiveness.
- Monitor food preservation and rotation to ensure minimal wastage.
- Operate within the guidelines set by the state for food handling and comply with health and safety regulations within the kitchen area.
- Discuss food preparation issues with the team and ensure the quality and cleanliness of all food displays.
- Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Experience working in the same cuisine for more than 1 year.
- Positive attitude, strong communication skills and motivated work ethic.
- Ability to understand and comply with internal food policies and procedures,
consistently meeting expected food quality standards.
- Understanding of best practices in food handling requirements.
- Necessary certificates and qualifications, including Cert IV in Commercial Cookery or higher.
