Our experience in the food and hospitality services goes back over 20 years. From our state‑of‑the‑art purpose‑built kitchen at Moorooka, our talented team of chefs and food assistants work alongside dieticians, nutritionists and speech pathologists to plan, prepare and package a daily full meal service.
We make and deliver meals to residents across Wesley Mission Queensland’s aged care communities, as well as other service areas in our organisation including our respite centres and retirement homes. We also supply meals for other services across Queensland, such as health care centres and hospitals, aged care communities and correctional centres.

Your Role as a Chef
- Deliver high quality meals for residents and visitors by preparing large quantities of high‑quality food that meets the resident’s nutritional needs and meal preferences
- Maintain hygiene and presentation
- Menu and Service planning
- Prepare temperature‑controlled food
- Undertake storage and stock rotation of food
- Contribute to the maintenance of safe working conditions for all conditions which includes reporting any hazards or risks
What We’re Looking For
- Certificate III Commercial Cookery
- Certified Eden Associate or willingness to attain accreditation
- Demonstrated high level ability in food preparation and cooking in a large scale commercial workplace, preferably in an aged care environment
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the maintenance of hygienic equipment and work areas
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a small,
multi‑disciplinary and busy team
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise, encourage, engage, actively listen and support various stakeholders at all levels, to achieve outcomes
- Demonstrated high level time management skills
- Proof of COVID‑19 vaccination status (or as required by legislation and WMQ policy)
- Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ Limited policy.
- Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel for work
