Job description

We are looking for a part-time Retail Sales Assistant who can join our friendly team. If you have a genuine love of sewing, retail sales experience, computer literacy and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service, then this may be the perfect role for you.

Job Responsibilities

· Provide outstanding customer service to ensure a memorable experience for our customers

· Demonstrate our wide range of machines to customers and achieve sales targets through effective communication and product knowledge

· Help customers with questions and inquiries instore, via phone and email, work a till and process payments

· Administration support with excellent time management and organisational skills to assist the owner with stock control, filling online orders, receiving deliveries and day to day store management

· Assist customers with machines that need servicing, by collecting customer information and phoning customers when required.

· Keep the store tidy and well-stocked.

Skills and Experience Required

· Previous experience working in retail/sales

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills

· Knowledge/interest in sewing, quilting, embroidery or dressmaking preferred

· Basic computer knowledge, POS systems and confidence with technology

· Confident, reliable, enthusiastic, professional and friendly person who can work in a team setting as well as on their own





· Ability to lift heavy items occasionally when deliveries arrive and to help customers carry their machines

· Willingness to learn new skills and products

For the right person, we can offer:

· In-depth training on all our fabulous sewing, embroidery, overlocking and quilting machines so that you can sell these confidently and answer any customer enquiries

· Casual, part-time hours – 18 to 24 hours / week (with the opportunity of extending these hours for the right person).

· Must be able to work Saturdays and 2 to 3 other days / week.

· Pay: $25.50 / hour

· Flexible, family-friendly working hours. Moonee Ponds Sewing is open 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday and 10am to 2pm on Saturdays. Flexibility may be required to fill in for staff sickness, annual leave and busy periods.
