POSITION DESCRIPTION

OX Group is seeking a talented and detail-oriented SMART Brand Designer to join the team on a 6-month fixed-term contract based in Melbourne, AU. This in-region role is responsible for maintaining and executing SMART brand identity across all consumer touchpoints — spanning packaging, catalogue, digital, and related brand collateral. The SMART Brand Designer will work closely with the Global Creative Director and cross-functional teams to ensure brand consistency, visual quality, and on-time delivery across all SMART-branded assets. This is a hands-on execution role for a designer who understands brand systems and takes pride in craft, accuracy, and output.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

BRAND MAINTENANCE & EXECUTION

Brand Stewardship: Maintain the visual integrity of the SMART brand across all designed outputs.

Apply brand guidelines consistently and accurately across packaging, catalogue, digital, and marketing collateral. Act as the in-region guardian of SMART brand standards, ensuring all executions are on-brand and production-ready.

PACKAGING DESIGN

Packaging Execution: Design, update, and manage SMART product packaging across the range. Work to existing dieline templates, updating artwork for new SKUs, range extensions, and refreshes. Ensure all packaging meets regional compliance requirements and supplier/print specifications. Coordinate artwork approvals and manage version control through the established workflow.

CATALOGUE DESIGN

Catalogue Production: Design and lay out SMART product catalogues in line with brand standards. Manage updates to product listings, imagery, and pricing in coordination with the marketing and product teams. Maintain catalogue templates and ensure consistency across print and digital catalogue formats.

DIGITAL DESIGN

Digital Asset Creation: Produce a range of digital design assets including eDMs, social media graphics, website banners, and retailer portal uploads. Adapt and resize assets for multiple platforms while maintaining brand consistency. Support campaign rollouts with timely, on-brand digital executions.

BRAND COLLATERAL

Collateral & Retail Support: Design and produce supporting brand materials including POS, trade show assets, sell sheets, and product photography direction. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to deliver finished files to production standard. Ensure all brand collateral aligns with the broader SMART visual identity.

FILE & ASSET MANAGEMENT

Asset Organisation: Maintain a structured and up-to-date library of SMART brand assets, working files, and final approved artwork. Follow established naming conventions, folder structures, and version control protocols. Ensure all files are accessible, archived correctly, and handed over cleanly at end of contract.

ADDITIONAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

- REGIONAL: Work collaboratively with the global marketing and creative teams to ensure SMART brand execution is consistent with global standards, avoids duplication, and leverages shared assets and approved templates.
- MEETINGS: Weekly 1:1 with Global Creative Director | Bi-weekly cross-functional brand update | Monthly marketing and product review meeting.
- TRAVEL: Occasional travel to supplier or retail sites may be required during execution phases.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

1. Minimum 5 years’ experience in graphic design with a strong portfolio in brand execution, packaging, and digital (trade, hardware, or consumer products preferred).
2. Demonstrated experience maintaining and executing brand identity within an established brand system.
3. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite — Illustrator and InDesign and Photoshop essential.
4. Strong understanding of packaging production, print processes, and dieline requirements.
5. Experience producing catalogue layouts and managing multi-page document production.
6. Proven ability to design across both print and digital channels to a production-ready standard.
7. Strong attention to detail, with a disciplined approach to file management, version control, and asset organisation.
8. Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively within a fixed-term contract structure.
9. Experience working within cross-functional teams and responding to direction from senior creatives.
10. Familiarity with project management or workflow tools (Wrike, Asana, or equivalent) advantageous.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain and execute SMART brand identity across packaging, catalogue, digital, and marketing collateral.
• Design and update product packaging to brand standards, ensuring compliance and production-readiness.
• Produce catalogue layouts, digital assets, and brand collateral that are accurate, on-brand, and delivered on time.
• Manage working files, asset libraries, and version control in line with established naming conventions and folder structures.
• Collaborate closely with the Global Creative Director and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent, high-quality brand execution across all SMART touchpoints.
