- Are you motivated to deliver outstanding advice and support?
- Are you looking for the opportunity to apply your HR skills in a local government environment?
Did you say ‘YES’ to all of the above?
One of Rockingham’s largest employers, the City is seeking HR professionals who will be part of the passionate, professional (and fun) team.
Responsibilities
- Delivering an ambitious People Plan which focuses on creating an environment that enables employees to thrive and grow, both professionally and personally, in order to achieve high performance in their role.
- Supporting and enhancing the end-to-end employee experience, from attracting new employees into the organization to waving them goodbye, ensuring they reflect positively on their employment and become great advocates for the next generation of City employees.
- Supporting the City’s diverse work areas to achieve their workforce goals through policy development and advice.
- Union engagement including industrial bargaining, and employee relations including performance, grievances and discipline.
These roles offer you the opportunity to be part of a change that includes improving systems and processes (including our Learning Management System), developing a City-wide leadership program, implementation of a Capability Framework, and development of a Reward and Recognition program.
We can offer you the opportunity to apply or develop your knowledge of the legislative and industrial instruments that underpin our employment relationships on a daily basis, and across a diverse workforce.
You will draw on your knowledge and experience to provide accurate and timely advice to the organization, ensuring we continue to meet compliance and legislative requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in HR (either generalist or a specific discipline) is essential for this role.
- Experience in recruitment/talent acquisition will be highly regarded.
- A tertiary-level qualification in an HR-related discipline, or currently studying towards a qualification, is highly desirable but not essential, because we know that the experience gained is equally valuable.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, practices, procedures and standards.
- Experience in applying these across a large and diverse workforce.
- Experience in one or more aspects of HR e.g. recruitment and attraction, learning and development, IR/ER, etc.
We are offering a gross salary of $94,367-$99,929 per annum, dependent on skills and experience. But this job is so much more than the money.
Benefits
- We recognise the value of work/life balance with rostered days off (a 19‑day month) and two additional paid days of absence per year.
- We’re happy to discuss other versatile working arrangements that may suit your lifestyle.
- You’ll also receive 12% superannuation and be able to co-contribute up to 5% – that’s 22% in total.
- Generous leave (13 weeks long service leave after 10 years of continuous service, annual, personal/carers, parental, family and domestic violence, compassionate leave, purchased leave).
- An award‑winning health and wellbeing programme, including annual subsidy (reimbursement up to $200 per annum) for physical activities (e.g. sports club or gym memberships), free flu vaccinations, free skin cancer checks, mental health programs and Employee Assistance Provider (EAP) services.

with training and development opportunities including paid study leave and reimbursement of study fees.
