The Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior PCI and Reliability Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing continuous improvement projects and major capital works across the site.
With your strong analytical skills, you will implement production efficiency projects, executing condition monitoring and quality checks on mechanical work. You will work cross-functionally to support the maintenance and production departments in day-to-day issues, reliability projects focusing on reducing maintenance delay and ongoing reliability of equipment and machinery at the James Hardie Manufacturing plant. Based at our Rosehill site, this role will also provide support to our Carole Park plant, which may involve occasional travel.
This role is Monday to Friday, start your day early at 6AM with an early finish of 2/2:30PM.
What you’ll do
- Drive a safe behavioral culture and ensure safety compliance for the production area and projects.
- Project management including Capital writing, procurement, scheduling, FAT, implementation, commissioning, testing and handover to production.
- Mechanical engineering design work,
including structural modifications, pipework design, pump/flow control design, conveyor and material handling designs.
- Undertake reliability analysis activities and projects to best ensure the long-term reliability of mechanical equipment and control systems and perform redesign/design modification to improve reliability performance.
- Execute and monitor condition monitoring equipment and provide analysis feedback to operations and maintenance team on maintenance strategy changes on assets.
- Undertake investigative work on mechanical equipment through an RCA/investigative approach.
- Undertake and drive continuous improvement projects on machinery to increase throughput and efficiency of equipment. This includes capital and non-capital projects.
- Perform audits on maintenance activities and executed work to ensure quality and compliance.
- Assist with day-to-day mechanical equipment issues and provide engineering support to the operations and maintenance teams.
- Troubleshoot and fault find various mechanical equipment issues onsite to provide short machine downtime.
- Work with operational and maintenance teams to execute minor and major machine shutdown planning and execution. This includes providing planning assistance, ensuring execution adherence to plan, and provide analysis of shutdown results.
- Working with production and finishing teams to improve communication and interaction between operators and maintenance / engineering personnel.
- Provide and assist with training and development of maintenance and operational personnel.
- Provide mentorship of graduate/intern engineers and trade staff.
- Drive technological change for the improvement of process and product efficiencies.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical/Process/Mechatronic Engineering approved/recognized by Engineers Australia (highly preferred)
- Minimum 3+ years' experience in a similar role, focus on manufacturing plant machinery, equipment and continuous improvement
- Project management skills
- Effective communication skills to influence all stakeholder levels from operators to senior management
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- AutoCAD/SolidWorks experience in mechanical drawings
- SAP or similar CMMS experience desirable
- Commitment to Work Health and Safety, and Quality Management
