The role
The Technical Officer (Subdivisions) is primarily responsible for the inspection of operational work completed by contractors and subcontractors engaged in operational works. You will provide technical supervision for construction activities by developers and undertake site meetings, inspections, audits, witnessing of tests and work procedures to ensure development infrastructure meets Council requirements.
This position is also responsible for data collection, assessment and reporting against a wide variety of issues primarily related to roads,
drainage and aerodrome infrastructure. Creating, maintaining and filing appropriate records and correspondence is a key responsibility of this role. Your expertise will ensure that all development infrastructure adheres to Council requirements, enhancing the quality and safety of our community’s infrastructure.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a proactive individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and possesses a keen eye for detail. You will have sound knowledge of quality assurance practices, environmental protection and work health and safety systems, as well as working knowledge of auditing processes. Your ability to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts will be essential in liaising with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring successful project outcomes. The successful applicant will have:
- Current Queensland C Class driver’s licence
- Minimum 5 years experience in the supervision of civil construction and/or maintenance within either Main Roads or Queensland local government
- Queensland Construction White Card or national equivalent
- High level of expertise with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
- Experience working with MUTCD Traffic Management requirements
- Certificate IV in Civil Construction and Maintenance with civil contracting experience (desirable)
You will be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident or have unrestricted work rights in Australia. Mareeba Shire Council does not offer employer visa sponsorship.
