City of Armadale

Privacy Officer

12 Month Fixed Term Contract | Full Time | Based in Armadale | $99,208.82 - $114,524.48 + 12% Super | Flexible working options to support work-life balance | New Industrial Agreement = pay rises locked in for July 2026

Help shape how we protect information and build trust. If you’re someone who naturally sees patterns, asks smart questions, and believes that privacy isn’t about restriction - it’s about respect - this could be your next chapter.

At the City of Armadale, we’re preparing for the introduction of WA’s new Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024, and we’re looking for a motivated Privacy Officer to lead the way. You’ll be helping us create the systems, culture, and capability that ensure we manage personal information with care, transparency, and integrity.

About the role

As the City’s Privacy Officer, you’ll develop and implement our Privacy Management Framework – the foundation for how we manage information across all directorates. You’ll:

- Lead our organisation-wide readiness for the new privacy legislation.
- Develop policy, procedures, and practical tools to guide good information handling.
- Provide specialist advice to leaders and teams on privacy and information‑sharing matters.
- Coordinate privacy incidents, complaints, and investigations with fairness and care.
- Build awareness through training and communication so privacy becomes part of our culture.

Your work will help the City balance responsible data use with the community’s right to trust that their information is safe. You’re someone who:

- Has a genuine interest in how information and ethics intersect.
- Brings strong knowledge of privacy, governance, or information‑management frameworks.
- Is skilled at translating complex legislation into clear, actionable advice.
- Can engage confidently with staff at all levels and build strong working relationships.
- Works independently with initiative and integrity, while collaborating closely with others.

A background in law,

governance, or information management will serve you well – particularly if you’ve implemented or advised on privacy or data‑sharing frameworks within the public sector.

Why join the City of Armadale?

Because here, we’re not just growing – we’re growing the right way.

- Cares deeply about our people, our community and our environment.
- Believes we’re better together – working in partnership across teams and levels.
- Learns & Grows – embracing change and helping others do the same.
- Seizes Today, Shapes Tomorrow – with innovation and sustainability at the heart of what we do.

Perks and Benefits

- We are set up for flexibility – we can compress your working week into a shorter period (9 day fortnight or 19 day month) and support remote working where we can.
- We are set up to improve your wellbeing – Free membership to Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre, offering access to gym, pool, sauna, group classes as well as an annual calendar of Wellbeing events.
- If you put in extra super, we will match it (up to a maximum of 15%) which will help secure your financial future.
- Study Assistance where the City of Armadale supports its tenured employees to undertake a course of part‑time study that will help with their own professional development.
- Novated Lease opportunities.
- Flexible leave policies and additional days off.
- Employee Assistance Program for personal and professional support.
- 17.5% Annual Leave Loading for when you take annual leave.
