About the role
As an Operational Services Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the Anatomical Pathology service. Working as part of a dedicated and collaborative team, you will contribute to essential laboratory workflows that enable timely and accurate diagnostic services. Your work will directly support clinicians, scientists and technical staff by ensuring that specimens, slides and related materials are handled, processed and delivered with precision and care.
In this varied and hands‑on role, you will contribute to a wide range of activities, including block and slide filing, assisting with multi‑disciplinary meeting preparations, scanning and database entry, along with delivering urgent slides and specimens across sites. With rotational duties across the reception and the Main Laboratory, this position offers a dynamic and engaging working environment where your attention to detail and commitment to service excellence will be highly valued.
About You
You will bring the foundational skills, reliability and professionalism needed to support the efficient operation of Anatomical Pathology. The essential criteria outlined below reflect the core capabilities required for success in this role.
Key requirements include:
Core qualifications & competencies: Strong numeracy skills, a sound understanding of confidentiality, knowledge of computerised data information systems and medical terminology, and a current driver’s licence.
Communication & teamwork: Effective communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team while using initiative to support daily operational needs.
Problem‑solving & task management:
Proven ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions, manage competing priorities and consistently meet required deadlines.
Technical capability: Confident in using computers, software and associated hardware, with the capacity to work efficiently, accurately and with attention to detail in a busy and varied environment.
