Your Role at St John of God Subiaco Hospital

The Senior Medical Imaging Technician provides optimal radiographic imaging and related services for specialised procedures within the Angiography Suite, in accordance with radiation safety and Hospital standards. Previous Cath Lab experience will be essential to this position.

Our Cardiac Cath Lab (CVIL) offers state-of-the-art equipment and highly trained medical staff to provide the best care for patients with heart conditions. Our team is dedicated to ensuring each patient receives personalized treatment and support throughout their recovery journey.

SJG Subiaco have a current redevelopment of the "Heart Centre", which will bring together Cardiac Interventional Services and a new Coronary Care Unit.

The Position

- Interprets Cardiology and Vascular requests and performs advanced specialized procedures in accordance with the Radiation Safety Act and SJOG Hospital policies and any other appropriate legislation.




- Programs and operates radiographic and associated fixed and mobile equipment to provide optimal diagnostic and interventional imaging, in accordance with the requirements of each consultant.
- Provide appropriate diagnostic images in accordance with the As Low as Reasonable Achievable (ALARA) principle. Ensures image quality and scope of examinations is sufficient to provide diagnostic information for clinical requirements.
- Evaluates and recommends new techniques and procedures in collaboration with Senior Angiography Suite caregivers and clinicians.
- Participates in the roster and on-call system roster to ensure continuous cover to the department for after hour emergency procedures.
- Supervises the activities of caregivers, with regards to radiographic practice ensuring compliance with requirements of Work, Health & Safety, Radiation Safety and other legislation relevant to Medical Imaging, as directed.
- Safely archive and be able to efficiently retrieve all relevant patient data in accordance with Hospital and Department of Health policy.
- Operates radiological equipment and carries out procedures in a cost efficient manner.
- Keeps and maintains relevant patient records in relation to procedural data.

You will have a tertiary qualification in Medical Imaging (Bachelor of Applied Science - Medical Imaging or equivalent) and be eligible for registration with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia and licensing with the WA Radiological Council. You will have significant experience with advanced practice skills and ability to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of radiographic principles, procedures and standards.

With your senior experience, you will be competent in adaption of technique to suit non-routine situations, and knowledge and adherence to Radiation Safety Legislation and ALARA principles.





To succeed you will be knowledgeable of computer information technology, have the ability prioritise workload and perform under time constraints. You will possess advanced written and verbal communication skills, with well-developed interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, which you will use to effectively work within the multidisciplinary team.

We can offer you

- Salary: $126, 488 to $134,871 (pro rata for part time) plus 12% superannuation
- Salary: $79.76 to $85.04 per hour (includes casual loading) plus 12% superannuation
- Permanent part time and casual positions available
