Manager – Preschool Reform Agreement

This is a six (6) month fixed‑term, full‑time position commencing ASAP with a possible extension to 18 months. The Primary, Early Childhood and Education Support (PECES) branch is responsible for systemic policy and strategic planning in early childhood for Western Australia public schools.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage Western Australia’s implementation of the Preschool Reform Agreement 2025‑2027, including deliverables on annual implementation plans.
- Manage planning and implementation of State and Commonwealth projects and strategies to facilitate the Agreement and ensure alignment with system priorities.
- Work with Financial Planning and Resource to manage the Commonwealth budget attached to the Agreement.
- Monitor and report on achievements at State and national levels; prepare high‑level reports, briefing notes, discussion papers and minister communication.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships and working relationships with State and Commonwealth agencies, non‑government schooling sectors and representatives of the WA Early Childhood Education and Care sector.
- Accountable for outputs of a small team; ensure implementation of reforms within agreed timeframes and budgets.
- Appointments can only be made once funding has been confirmed through the Preschool Reform Agreement extension.

Eligibility
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
- Hold or obtain a current valid ‘C’ class Western Australian driver’s licence.
- Complete the Department’s induction programme within three months of commencement.
- Complete any training specific to this role required by departmental policy.
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision‑Making within six months of appointment.
