Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available in our Finance Services team for a Management Accountant on a 12-month fixed term, full-time basis.

The successful candidate will deliver management accounting services to support organisational objectives and statutory requirements, and will provide management accounting information, analysis and advice to support informed decision making by Council, executive leadership and staff.

The key responsibilities of this role will be to:

- Contribute to the preparation of the annual budget and mid-year budget review in accordance with statutory and management requirements.
- Work with budget responsible officers throughout the year to ensure correct use of accounts to inform future years annual budgets.
- Contribute to the review of the City’s Strategic Financial Plan in accordance with the Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework.
- Support the timely provision of accurate, insightful management reporting to Council, senior leadership and relevant staff.
- Ensure maintenance of the cost allocation and recovery models methodology, including monthly processing.
- Contribute to the ongoing integrity of the general and subsidiary ledgers with reconciliation being prepared and balanced on a regular basis.




- Compile and review monthly management reports and provide variance analysis in collaboration with key internal stakeholders and the Financial Accounting team.
- Any other duties as required.

Essential criteria:

- Highly developed and proven interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish, develop and maintain new systems, strategies, and procedures.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Experience in financial reporting, budgeting and general accounting principles and statutory requirements.
- Well-developed ability to use corporate computer systems.
- Tertiary degree level qualification in Business, Accounting, or related discipline and/or extensive experience in a related role.
- A current member of Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or progression towards obtaining a membership.
- Federal Police Clearance not more than 6 months old at engagement.

Salary package:

In line with the City of Subiaco Inside Staff Industrial Agreement 2025, this position is classified as a Level 7. The salary range is $111,072.00 to $119,028.00 per annum, exclusive of superannuation.
