Chinese Language Assistant

Haileybury is seeking a qualified and experienced Chinese Language Assistant to join our team to support students across various Haileybury campuses. This fixed-term, part-time (0.4 FTE) position, from 20 January to 10 December 2026, offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student's language learning journey.

Responsibilities

As a Chinese Language Assistant, you will:

- Reinforce speaking skills through one-on-one sessions or small group activities with students.
- Assist students in strengthening their understanding of class concepts, while also extending learning opportunities for those who demonstrate proficiency beyond the expected year level.
- Differentiate reading materials to suit the different levels of language fluency.
- Assist in the preparation of teaching resources for a particular year level.
- Keep records of student progress in their language development.
- Maintain regular communication with language teaching staff regarding student progress and behavioural concerns.
- Provide support, as required, in applicable language classroom activities and extra-curricular programs.

About you

We are looking for a team member who is:

- A native Chinese speaker with a strong grasp of the language’s history and cultural heritage.
- Well-versed in the Victorian and Australian language curriculum.
- Experienced Language Assistant in senior years applicable language classrooms.
