ISSG acts as Manager for a number of Companies and this position is responsible for provision of effective and efficient Work Health and Safety (WHS) management system as required by legislation and/or Clients and Contracts.

Overview of the Position:

The WHS Senior Advisor (Roving) provides specialist health and safety support across ISSG’s operational portfolio, This role ensures compliance with all relevant legislation, company standards, and client expectations while driving continuous improvement in safety culture, risk management, and overall workforce well-being.

As a trusted partner to operational leaders, the WHS Senior Advisor delivers practical, solutions-focused advice that strengthens safe systems of work. Operating as part of a small multidisciplinary team, the position plays a key role in continuous improvement and the ongoing development and maintenance of the WHS Management System.

Core responsibilities include WHS compliance monitoring and reporting, risk and hazard management, development and review of policies and procedures, and the provision of high-level WHS guidance and support across the business.

Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for:

WHS Advisor & Business Support

- Provide day-to-day WHS advice, guidance, and support to supervisors, managers, and workers across multiple sites in a roving capacity.
- Partner with operational leaders using strong coaching, mentoring, and influencing skills to embed safety leadership behaviours and enhance risk awareness.
- Support WHS Representatives and operational teams to strengthen consultation, participation, and shared ownership of safety outcomes.
- Represent the organisation on relevant internal and external committees, working groups, and stakeholder forums.

Incident Investigation, Risk Management & Assurance

- Facilitate and participate in WHS incident investigations, applying root cause analysis and ensuring corrective actions are assigned and closed within required timeframes.
- Conduct and support risk assessments, hazard reviews, pre-start assessments, and contract mobilisation safety processes.

- Lead or contribute to field-based safety interactions, inspections, audits, and assurance activities across depot, bus,



and field operations, identifying non-conformances and improvement opportunities.

- Support emergency management preparedness and response activities on site.

WHS Management Systems & Compliance

- Support implementation and continuous improvement of the WHS Management System, ensuring alignment with ISO 45001, mining legislation, and transport industry standards.
- Review, develop, and implement WHS policies, procedures, secure work practices, and critical risk control measures.
- Operate and maintain WHS systems and databases, including configuration of workflows, dashboards, reporting tools, and data integrity controls.
- Maintain an advanced understanding of WHS, Workers Compensation, and Injury Management legislation and ensure compliance with all statutory obligations.

Data, Reporting & Strategic Improvement

- Prepare and analyse WHS reports, metrics, and trend data to identify emerging risks and inform evidence-based decision-making.
- Undertake applied research and analysis to support WHS strategic projects and operational improvement initiatives.
- Promote proactive communication of WHS priorities across operational teams, fostering a resilient, learning-focused safety culture aligned with organisational values.
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and monitoring of workforce health, wellbeing, and safety initiatives, including fatigue management and safe driving programs.
- Training, Capability Building & Communication

- Deliver and coordinate WHS training, inductions, toolboxes, and capability-building activities; contribute to the development of competency-based learning materials.
- Use strong communication and relationship-building skills to work effectively with internal teams, contractors, and external providers.
- Promote a “no blame, learn and improve” culture consistent with Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) principles.

Return-to-Work & Wellbeing

- Contribute to return-to-work programs that support early, safe, and sustainable outcomes for injured employees.




- Assist in the development and administration of wellbeing and safety projects and initiatives across the organisation.

Operational Excellence & Professional Conduct

- Manage competing priorities and deliverables with accuracy in a fast-paced, complex operational environment.
- Support continuous improvement activities and drive quality outcomes across all safety-related functions.
- Foster effective communication and working relationships with staff, contractors, regulatory authorities, and stakeholders.
- Undertake additional WHS duties as required to support organisational goals.

Job related requirements:

Essential Qualifications & Experience

- Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety (minimum Certificate IV).
- Minimum five years’ experience in a similar operational, site-based FIFO role within transport, mining, or heavy industrial environments.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) or currently working towards completion.
- Demonstrated experience conducting safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
- Strong understanding and practical application of WHS legislation, codes of practice, mining regulations, and safety management systems.
- Valid WA Driver’s Licence, current First Aid Certificate
- Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance.
- Ability to meet fitness-for-work requirements, including pre-employment medical assessments.
- Proficiency in WHS data systems, reporting, and data integrity management.

Other Requirements

- Flexibility to travel to multiple sites on a changing roster, including at short but reasonable notice.
- ICAM investigation training (desirable).
