WHO ARE WE?

The Rev. Bill Crews Foundation (‘BCF’) is one of Sydney’s most trusted frontline charities and has been supporting the community for nearly 40 years. Our mission is to address homelessness and hardship by providing essential services including food, social welfare, healthcare, education and community programs.

Our Social Health and Wellbeing (‘SHW’) team is often the first point of contact for individuals facing significant and complex challenges. The team delivers a broad range of care including crisis support, case management, medical services, dental services and complementary healthcare.

THE ROLE

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled Dental Assistant to join our SHW team at the BCF Blacktown Medical Clinic, commencing 5 January 2026.

As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality dental care to individuals experiencing homelessness, financial hardship and other barriers to accessing mainstream services. You will help create a calm, welcoming and safe environment, ensuring each person receives dignified and trauma-informed support.

The position offers casual, part-time or full time hours, and the schedule can be tailored for the right person. You’ll be joining a warm, purpose-driven team where your skills and compassion directly contribute to improving lives.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As our Dental Assistant, you will:

- Provide essential chairside support to dentists and allied dental staff.
- Welcome clients with compassion and respect, helping them feel safe and supported.
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilise instruments and maintain infection control to the highest standards.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records using dental software (training provided if required).
- Coordinate with laboratories, referral hospitals and external providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Assist with patient flow,



appointment preparation and general clinic organisation.
- Support stock management, ordering and regular dental stocktakes.
- Contribute to a calm, organised and client-focused clinic environment.
- Work respectfully with clients who may present with trauma histories, challenging behaviours or mental health concerns.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You are a steady, supportive and adaptable team member who thrives in a busy, community-focused setting. You remain calm under pressure, communicate clearly and enjoy contributing to a positive experience for clients and colleagues.

You’ll also bring:

- Experience working as a Dental Assistant.
- Certificate III in Dental Assisting (or equivalent).
- Certificate in Dental Radiography (desirable).
- Certificate in Oral Health Education (desirable).
- Experience using dental software such as Exact or SharePoint (advantageous).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A respectful, non-judgemental, person-centred approach.
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high standard of care and compliance.
