We have six community libraries across our local government area: Blacktown, Mount Druitt, Stanhope Gardens, Riverstone, Lalor Park, and Marsden Park Temporary Library. We also have a popular mobile library service. About The Prospect

We are seeking a Library Technician to join our team at Mt Druitt Library on a permanent, part‑time basis. As part of our Customer Service team, you will play an important role in creating positive experiences and fostering a welcoming environment for all library visitors.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide outstanding customer service to all library visitors, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment
- Deliver high‑quality, community‑focused programs that engage and inspire diverse audiences
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues to support the smooth operation of library services
- Assist customers in accessing the full range of library resources, including digital tools and online platforms
- Communicate clearly and professionally with people from different backgrounds and age groups
- Apply well‑developed technology skills to help customers navigate information systems and digital services
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, respectful, and family‑friendly environment within the library
- Draw on knowledge of cultural trends to shape relevant programs and services that meet community needs

Qualifications and Experience

- Library Technician Diploma, Associate Diploma or equivalent, as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
- Previous library experience
- Demonstrated strong commitment to a customer‑focused service
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written




- Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and independently
- Well‑developed problem‑solving skills
- Relevant computer skills
- Current class C driver’s licence
- Working with Children Check number

Desirable

- First aid certification
- Ability to speak a community language

Remuneration and Benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

- Entry level for this position starts at $1,362.15 per week, pro‑rata
- 17.5 hour working week
- Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 12% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs
