You’ve done the hard years of ACA. You’re looking for your first move (maybe your second), and you know what you want next: real ownership, real pace and real impact. Not a seat on the sidelines.
The Role
As Finance Operations Controller, you’ll take ownership of the engine room of the finance function, so the CFO can focus on strategy and growth. You’ll be the person they trust to get it done, and done right.
You Will
- Own daily settlements end to end: identify ownership of incoming trust funds, calculate fees and distribute payments against multiple tight daily cut-offs.
- Own trust and bank reconciliations, resolving variances fast.
- Build and evolve management reporting, cash flow and KPIs that give the CFO real-time visibility.
- Develop unit costing and drive a continuous cost reduction programme.
- Automate settlement, reconciliation and reporting processes as volumes scale.
- Handle sensitive client conversations on fund flows and timing.
- Run accounts payable and take on ad hoc analysis as the CFO’s right hand.
- Work day-to-day with the CEO and COO, with visibility well beyond finance.
- Take on month-end close over time, as a real opportunity to grow the role.
This isn’t a job. It’s a career move.

Let’s Be Upfront
This role is hands-on, high-volume and deadline-critical. There are multiple daily cut-offs, exacting accuracy standards and high expectations. It’s not for the faint-hearted. But if you want to learn fast, grow faster and add value from your first day, you’ll be right at home.
- ACA qualification and early-career experience in a high-volume, transactional or trust environment (CA/CPA also welcome).
- A robust work ethic and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get stuck into the detail.
- Proven ability to hit non-negotiable deadlines without dropping quality.
- Management reporting or FP&A; experience, building and improving reports rather than just reading them.
- A drive to automate and improve, and to treat process improvement as core to the job.
- Resilience and energy from pace and volume.
Why Join
- Genuine ownership of a critical function, not a support seat.
- Regular access to the CFO and exec team, with real influence over how finance is built.
- Growth that goes as far as the business does, and not necessarily limited to accounting.
- Competitive salary plus performance bonus.
- A collaborative, high-performance culture that backs people who back themselves
- A prestigious office moments from Circular Quay
