Role Summary

The Senior Data Engineer is a trusted technical leader within a project or a domain. They are accountable for designing, delivering, and evolving robust, secure, and reusable data solutions. They take ownership of design, build and test, lead engineering decisions, uplift engineering practices, and coach others to build capability across the project.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead the design and delivery of scalable, secure, and reliable data pipelines, models,

· Take ownership of complex initiatives from discovery to production — balancing delivery and long-term sustainability

· Define and enforce engineering best practices in coding, testing, monitoring, and documentation

· Identify platform or design improvements to improve performance, resilience, or developer experience

· Champion data quality, lineage, and observability as part of engineering solutions

· Mentor and support engineers

· Proactively identify risks and blockers, and influence trade-offs in solution design

· Collaborate with platform teams, architects, and product managers to align on priorities,



design patterns, and standards

Key Skills & Experience

· 5+ years in data engineering or software engineering with a robust data focus

· Proven experience delivering and owning end-to-end data solutions in production at scale

· Strong understanding of cloud-native data platforms (e.g., Databricks, GCP, AWS)

· Experience with orchestration, version control, and CI/CD

· Sound knowledge of data modeling (Kimball and Medallion) and modern architecture patterns

· Practical experience with data governance best practice

· Influences others through code, reviews, documentation, and informal coaching

· Comfortable leading delivery with engineers and influencing product/architecture discussions

Working Relationships

· Reports to: Data Engineering Manager

· Partners with: Technical Leads, Product Managers, Architects, Platform & Governance teams

· Mentors: Junior and mid-level data engineers
