THE COMPANY
Highbury Executive is partnering with a fast-growing, private equity-backed technology business seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to support its next stage of growth.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Accountant ready to step into their first Finance Manager role, take ownership of the finance function and work closely with the CFO. You’ll lead month-end reporting, tax compliance, audit and a small finance team, while gaining exposure to budgeting, forecasting, commercial analysis and private equity reporting.
Applications are also welcome from finance professionals in larger corporate environments who are looking to broaden their responsibilities, take a more hands-on approach and gain greater exposure to commercial decision-making within a growing, PE-backed business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting directly to the CFO, your responsibilities will include:
- Lead the month-end close process, including journals, accruals, reconciliations and balance sheet reviews, delivering accurate and timely management reporting to senior leadership and the private equity sponsor.
- Manage, coach and develop the finance team across accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll, ensuring strong financial controls and effective day-to-day operations.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning, providing variance analysis and commercial insights on revenue,
margins and business performance for senior management, board and investor reporting.
- Coordinate half-year reviews and year-end audits, preparing statutory accounts, audit schedules and supporting documentation while managing auditor queries.
- Oversee tax compliance, including BAS/GST, PAYG, payroll tax, income tax and R&D; tax incentive claims, partnering with external advisers to ensure accurate and timely lodgements.
- Identify and implement improvements across finance systems, reporting processes and internal controls, supporting business growth, acquisitions and system implementations.
REQUIREMENTS
- CA or CPA qualified, with 3-5 years’ relevant finance and accounting experience.
- Strong technical accounting skills and hands-on experience across month-end, financial reporting, tax compliance and audit.
- Experience managing or mentoring a small finance team, with the confidence to take ownership of the finance function.
- Technology sector experience and exposure to private equity reporting are advantageous, but not essential.
- Experience with Power BI, reporting automation or finance process improvement will be highly regarded.
