ABOUT YOU The right person will be someone who is:

Reliable, punctual and consistent.

Comfortable supporting an adult with a intellectual disability and mental health support needs.

Interested in community participation and helping someone pursue their own interests.

Enjoys practical, hands‑on activities.

Comfortable spending time working alongside someone rather than simply completing tasks for them.

Able to encourage independence rather than taking over.

Able to communicate clearly and respectfully.

Comfortable working independently in the community.

Able to recognise changes in presentation, mood or behaviour and communicate these appropriately to the support team.

Comfortable completing clear, accurate and objective progress notes.

Willing to follow individual support plans and organisational procedures.

Interested in building a genuine professional relationship and supporting the participant to achieve his goals.

do not need to be a qualified tradesperson or handyman for this position.

However, if you enjoy things such as:

Woodworking

Building projects

Working with tools

Restoring or modifying vehicles

Mechanics

DIY projects

Home maintenance

Construction

Men's Shed activities

Fixing and making things

Understanding of person-centred support.

Ability to support an adult with an intellectual disability respectfully and professionally.

Good communication skills.
