Are you passionate about social justice, serving the community, and are keen to complete your PLT at an organisation making a real difference in the lives of Western Australians experiencing disadvantage?

If these statements ring true, you should consider completing your practical work experience hours with Legal Aid WA, where you will gain significant professional experience while building your network at WA’s largest provider of legal assistance services.

Our PLT program is for law graduates who are enrolled in a practical legal training course approved by the Legal Practice Board of WA and wish to complete the practical work experience component at Legal Aid WA.

Participants in our PLT program will be placed in a division or across multiple divisions of Legal Aid WA’s Perth office, where they will work under the supervision of an appointed solicitor to complete workplace tasks.



Regional placements may also be available on request, however Legal Aid WA will not cover any travel or accommodation costs associated with these placements.

Volunteering placements are to commence in the first half of 2027. Hours are flexible and placements may be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis, but must be completed within a maximum period of six months.

To be eligible for our PLT program, you must be a law graduate or a final year law student expecting to graduate by the end of 2026. Applicants who have already been admitted to legal practice will NOT be accepted. A conflict of interest check will also apply.
