Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.
The experienced Senior OpenShift Engineer will be able to navigate the monitoring, installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting and maintenance of on-premises Red Hat OpenShift clusters, particularly within the context of government services. The ideal candidate will provide technical support, troubleshoot problems and automate solutions to ensure stable and productive operation of OpenShift environments, with a proven ability to lead cloud projects, mentor junior staff and integrate seamlessly into a complex, dynamic team environment.
Experience and knowledge across a breadth of ICT technologies or methodologies is highly desirable, these include:
- Kubernetes
- Ansible
- Helm
Python
- CI/CD Pipelines
- Git
As a Senior OpenShift Engineer at Services Australia, you will play a critical role in managing and optimising our OpenShift platform to meet the highest standards of performance, security, and compliance. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Design, deploy, and manage OpenShift or other Kubernetes clusters in enterprise environments, ensuring high availability and scalability.
- Assist developers in automating the deployment, scaling, and management of containerised applications using OpenShift, utilising CI/CD pipelines for efficient service delivery.
- Oversee cluster management, resource allocation, and capacity planning within Red Hat OpenShift environments, ensuring optimal performance and responsible resource utilisation.
- Develop and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Helm to support scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure.
- Ensure the security of OpenShift environments by implementing best practices, including vulnerability scanning, network segmentation, and role-based access control.
- Lead technical teams in the execution of OpenShift projects, mentoring junior engineers and managing project timelines and deliverables.
