About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced and trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter with a strong background in pumps, mechanical seals and rotating equipment for a local Perth-based opportunity.

The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, repairing and overhauling a variety of pumps and mechanical equipment.

Key Responsibilities

- Service, maintain, repair and overhaul industrial pumps and mechanical seals.
- Strip, inspect, rebuild and reassemble centrifugal and positive displacement pumps.
- Complete mechanical seal replacements, installations and repairs.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out troubleshooting on pumps and rotating equipment.
- Inspect and replace bearings, shafts, impellers, couplings and other mechanical components.
- Perform shaft alignment, including laser alignment where required.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and maintenance manuals.
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Complete workshop testing, inspections and quality checks.
- Maintain a safe and organised working environment.

Skills & Experience Required

- Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting (Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent).
- Previous experience working with industrial pumps and mechanical seals.
- Strong understanding of pump assembly, disassembly and overhaul procedures.




- Experience with centrifugal pumps, slurry pumps or positive displacement pumps.
- Knowledge of bearings, seals, shafts, couplings and rotating equipment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
- High attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.

Highly Regarded

- Experience with pump manufacturers such as Weir, Sulzer, KSB or Flowserve.
- Experience with John Crane or AESSEAL mechanical seals.
- Previous workshop or industrial maintenance experience.
- Experience with laser alignment and precision measuring equipment.
- Background in mining, manufacturing, water treatment or heavy industry.
