About ADENCO
ADENCO is a Perth-based contractor delivering civil, structural mechanical piping (SMP), electrical and water management projects across Western Australia, including major mining and infrastructure work for Tier 1 clients. We are known for doing what we say we’ll do, and we are building a team that takes pride in getting it right the first time.
The role
Reporting to the Project Delivery Manager, the Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical) is the technical link between how ADENCO prices its work and how it buys and delivers it. You will help our Estimating team build accurate, well-scoped tenders, then support our Project teams to procure mechanical equipment, materials and subcontract packages that meet specification, budget and programme.
This role suits a mechanical engineer who is as comfortable reading a P&ID; or datasheet as negotiating a commercial clarification with a supplier.
What you’ll do
- Review tender documents and drawings to identify mechanical scope, risks and gaps
- Prepare mechanical take-offs and equipment lists for piping, structural steel and plant
- Obtain, compare and normalise supplier and subcontractor quotes
- Develop technical clarifications, assumptions, exclusions and value-engineering options
- Prepare procurement packages, including requisitions, datasheets and scopes of supply
- Lead technical bid evaluations and make supplier recommendations
- Review vendor documents and ITPs, expedite long-lead items, and manage variations and NCRs through to close-out
- Respond to RFIs and provide mechanical input across installation, commissioning and handover
- Guide and review the work of Project and Graduate Engineers
What you’ll bring
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent recognised by Engineers Australia
- 7+ years’ project engineering experience with a contractor in resources, energy, oil and gas or industrial construction
- Hands-on experience supporting tenders (take-offs and quote comparison) and preparing technical procurement packages
- Sound knowledge of mechanical equipment, piping, structural steel and relevant Australian Standards
- Confidence reading P&IDs;, GA drawings and datasheets
- Advanced Excel skills
- A commercial mindset, close attention to detail, and clear written communication
- A current White Card and C Class driver’s licence
- Willingness to travel to sites across WA and NT, including FIFO or DIDO when required
It would be outstanding if you also have
- CPEng or NER registration, or you’re working towards it
- Experience with estimating, procurement or ERP systems and 3D or CAD review tools
- Exposure to EPC or EPCM contracts and AS 4000 or AS 4902
- Experience mentoring junior engineers
Why ADENCO
- A Perth office role in Subiaco, with site travel only when projects need it
- Variety: you’ll work across estimating and delivery rather than sitting in one lane
- Broad exposure to civil, SMP and water projects across WA
- A senior voice in a team that values integrity, respect, positivity and excellence
