About the role

Gambaro Hospitality Group is seeking a Kitchen Hand to join our team on a casual basis for 20-30 hours. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment at our Coolangatta location. As a Kitchen Hand, you will play an essential role in maintaining our kitchen operations, ensuring food safety standards are met, and supporting our chefs in delivering high-quality meals to our guests. This position offers flexibility with casual hours, making it ideal for those seeking work-life balance or additional income.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and set up kitchen stations for service, ensuring all equipment and ingredients are readily available

- Wash, peel, chop and prepare fresh ingredients according to recipe requirements and food safety standards

- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils and cookware

- Assist with food plating and presentation under the direction of kitchen staff

- Store and organise food items correctly, following proper labelling and rotation procedures

- Support kitchen staff with general food preparation and cooking duties

- Maintain high standards of personal and kitchen hygiene in compliance with food safety regulations

- Respond promptly to requests from chefs and senior kitchen staff

- Take on additional duties as required to support smooth kitchen operations

What we're looking for

- Prior experience working in a kitchen or hospitality environment is desirable

- A willingness to learn and develop your skills in a professional kitchen setting





- Solid attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety

- Ability to work efficiently in a quick-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

- Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team

- Physical fitness and capability to stand for extended periods and lift items safely

- Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to work varied casual shifts

- Food safety knowledge or willingness to complete relevant training and certifications
