PORTER SUPERVISOR – Reef View Hotel / Hamilton Island

Hamilton Island is seeking an experienced and guest-focused Porter Supervisor to lead our Porter operations at Reef View Hotel, one of our largest and most popular resort accommodation properties. Overlooking the beautiful Catseye Beach, Reef View Hotel welcomes guests from around the world, offering a vibrant resort experience in the heart of the Whitsundays. In this hands-on leadership role, you'll oversee guest luggage handling, arrivals, departures and daily Porter operations while ensuring every guest receives professional, efficient and personalised service.

Your Role

As Porter Supervisor at Reef View Hotel, you'll oversee the daily operations of the Porter team, ensuring guest luggage, deliveries and transfers are handled efficiently and professionally. You'll coordinate daily team movements, maintain operational standards, support training and development, and ensure all vehicles and equipment are operated safely. Working closely with the Front Office Manager, you'll play a key role in creating seamless guest experiences from arrival through to departure.

- Supervise and coordinate daily Porter operations and team activities

- Review communication logs and briefing boards to coordinate daily movements

- Ensure guest luggage, messages and internal deliveries are handled promptly and securely

- Maintain secure luggage storage and handling procedures

- Monitor team performance and support ongoing staff development

- Coordinate orientation and on-the-job training for new Porters

- Ensure vehicles are operated safely by appropriately licensed team members

- Maintain high standards of vehicle cleanliness,



safety and operational readiness

- Respond to guest enquiries and requests professionally and efficiently

- Support the Front Office Manager with daily operational requirements

- Promote a positive and collaborative team environment

- Ensure compliance with WHS requirements and HIE policies and procedures

What we’re looking for

You are a confident and approachable hospitality professional with a passion for exceptional guest service. You have solid organisational and communication skills, enjoy developing team members and understand the importance of efficient Porter operations in delivering a seamless guest experience. You lead by example and thrive in a busy hotel environment.

To be successful, you will need:

- Higher School Certificate or equivalent (Essential)

- Current QLD Open/Unrestricted Manual Driver Licence (Essential)

- Eligibility to obtain Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification (Essential)

- Previous experience and demonstrated ability to manoeuvre luggage utility vehicles (Essential)

- Previous Concierge or Porter experience in a medium to large 4 or 5-star hotel (Essential)

- Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

- Strong commitment to delivering outstanding customer service

- Confidence delivering group briefings and presentations

- Ability to adapt to changing operational requirements

- Professional presentation and positive attitude

- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and development

- Minimum 1 year's experience in a Front Office or Guest Services supervisory role (Desirable)
