We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist who is confident independently managing New Zealand payroll from end to end and navigating the complexities that come with it.

You’ll take ownership of the NZ payroll, investigate and resolve payroll issues, manage reconciliations and statutory requirements, including ACC-related payroll requirements, and ensure employees are paid accurately and on time. You’ll also provide backup for Australian payroll during periods of leave.

Own the end-to-end New Zealand payroll

Be the go-to expert for NZ payroll requirements and legislation

Provide Australian payroll cover during periods of leave

Support a complex retail workforce across multiple Modern Awards

Work across UKG, payroll and other HR systems

Use your strong Excel skills for reconciliations, reporting and problem-solving

Deliver responsive, high-quality service to employees, managers and HR

Join a collaborative Sydney-based team, working 4 days per week in the office

What you’ll bring

Strong end-to-end NZ payroll experience

Sound knowledge of NZ payroll legislation, including the Holidays Act

Experience with PAYE, KiwiSaver, ACC, leave, holiday pay and terminations

Australian payroll experience, ideally within retail and/or multiple Modern Awards

Strong systems capability, ideally including UKG

Confident Excel skills (pivots and vlookups)

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Strong communication and a genuine customer-service mindset

Confidence working independently and taking ownership of payroll issues through to resolution
