About The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially minded Senior Contract Specialist to join our Energy Storage team in Sydney.

The role will primarily support the review, negotiation, and management of commercial contracts for local BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) projects in Australia.

Working closely with Sales, Legal, Finance, Engineering, Project Delivery, Procurement, and After-Sales teams, you will help identify and manage key contractual and commercial risks, coordinate internal reviews, and ensure contracts are aligned with company policies, approved commercial positions, and project requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for a contract or commercial professional looking to develop expertise in renewable energy, BESS and large-scale energy infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Contract Review & Commercial Risk Assessment
- Review customer contracts, supply agreements, purchase orders, amendments and other commercial agreements.
- Identify and assess key risks relating to payment, delivery, liquidated damages, warranty, performance guarantees, liability, indemnity, termination,



commissioning and Commercial Operation Date (COD).
- Compare customer terms against company standards and approved commercial terms, and relevant project requirements.
- Prepare contract review comments, deviation lists, risk summaries, and internal approval materials.
- Coordinate with Legal and relevant internal teams on legal or high-risk contractual matters and ensure appropriate escalation where required.
- BESS Project Contract Management
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the commercial and contractual structure of BESS projects.
- Understand key BESS contractual matters, including equipment supply scope, delivery and acceptance, warranty and performance guarantees, commissioning and COD, augmentation, LTSA/O&M;, payment milestones, liquidated damages, and interface responsibilities.
- Support the business in assessing contractual implications arising from project scope changes, technical requirements, delivery schedules, and customer requests.
- Apply lessons learned from previous projects to future contract reviews and negotiations.
- Contract Negotiation Support
- Support Sales and Legal teams in contract negotiations with customers, developers, EPC contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain contract negotiation trackers, issue lists, and action items.
- Analyse customer comments and proposed amendments and coordinate internal responses.
- Support meetings and discussions with customers on contractual and commercial matters.
- Ensure agreed positions and outstanding issues are clearly documented and appropriately escalated.
