About Pebl

Pebl is an Australian-owned in-person payments platform built for charities and not-for-profits. We make it simple for volunteers to take tap payments at events, fundraisers and community activations, straight from their phone, with no extra hardware.

We're at a genuinely exciting point. We already power in-person fundraising for some of Australia's largest charities, we're growing fast through word of mouth across the sector, and we're now working with international partners as we prepare to launch overseas. The goal is simple: become the go-to in-person payments platform for charities and not-for-profits worldwide.

We're licensed (AFSL 700099), AUSTRAC-regulated and a registered payment facilitator.

The role

This is an immediate start, early engineering hire - a real chance to get in on the ground floor. You'll join a small, focused team working closely with our Lead Engineer and the founders, owning features end to end across our backend, web dashboard and mobile apps.

The work you do here will shape the platform as we scale into new markets. As the team grows, there's clear room to grow with it, with more ownership and influence over technical direction.

Some of what's on the go right now:

• Future-proofing our data layer from Firebase to Postgres

• Raffles, auctions and new fundraising features for charity events

• Checkout and payout improvements across our payment rails

• Integrations with fundraising platforms and charity CRMs

• Our redesigned merchant dashboard and mobile app

Our stack

• Backend: Node.js / TypeScript on Google Cloud Platform

• Data: Cloud SQL (Postgres) and Firebase,



currently migrating to Postgres

• Mobile: React Native (Pebl Pay and Pebl Collect)

• Web: Next.js merchant dashboard

• Payments: Cybersource, Stripe and Yazara

• Tooling: GitHub, Docker, Sentry, Jira, Confluence and Figma

• AI: Claude and Claude Code are part of how we build every day

About you

• Solid commercial experience as a full stack engineer, comfortable across backend, web and mobile

• Solid with TypeScript/JavaScript, relational databases and cloud infrastructure

• Experience with React Native desirable but not required

• Interested & excited about building with AI, not just using it

• Sydney-based with full working rights in Australia

• You enjoy the pace of an early-stage company and like owning decisions and outcomes

• Startup experience is a big plus

• Payments or fintech experience is a bonus, but not required
