The Story
If you are an ambitious, energetic station hand obsessed with good stockmanship and looking for a genuine platform to launch your agricultural career, this role is built for you.
Spanning 16,000 acres in the premier Yass district—just 40 minutes from Yass, an hour from Canberra, and backing onto Burrinjuck Dam—this landmark fifth-generation property combines rich breeding heritage with progressive, modern management. The enterprise runs a massive 15,000-head sheep operation, a commercial 1,000-head Angus cattle herd, and a 1,000-hectare cropping program. Driven by high animal welfare standards, top-tier infrastructure, and a real commitment to mentoring the next generation of ag leaders, this is an exceptional workplace to learn and grow.
Working alongside the Station Manager and Overseer, you won't just be doing daily stock and station jobs—you will be backed with structured upskilling, hands-on responsibility, and a clear, long-term pathway to advance as the business expands.
The Operation
The livestock program is centred on 7,000 self-replacing Merino ewes and 2,000 self-replacing Composite ewes, running alongside 4,000 crossbred sheep and a prime 1,000-head commercial Angus breeding herd. Feed production spans 1,000 hectares of cropping, utilising an intensive mixed pasture program of barley, oats, and improved and natural pastures to maintain stock performance.
Stock handling facilities are second to none: a main shearing shed equipped with new yards and an automated Te Pari sheep handler, a portable Combi Clamp setup for four sets of satellite yards,
and undercover cattle working facilities that keep operations moving safely in all weather conditions.
The Role
This is a high-variety, hands-on role where no two weeks are the same. Reporting to management, your core responsibilities include:
- Livestock & Yard Operations: Mustering, drafting, processing, and executing animal health programs across sheep and cattle using two-wheel motorbikes and working dogs.
- Station Upkeep & Machinery: Essential fencing repairs, water trough maintenance, vehicle operation, and assisting with seasonal cropping programs.
The Ideal Candidate: We are searching for a driven, safety-conscious team player with a genuine passion for stockmanship, animal care, and hard work.
Essential requirements:
- 1+ years of practical on-farm sheep and cattle handling experience.
- Confident two-wheel motorbike riding skills across steep hill country.
- Strong passion for stockmanship and working dogs (owning a working dog or a keenness to build a team is highly valued).
- Valid Driver's Licence, strong physical fitness, and a team-first, WHS-conscious mindset.
- The ability to ride a horse is a welcome bonus, but not a necessity.
The Offer
A highly competitive salary package is provided, along with a 2-bedroom house featuring a freshly renovated bathroom, full power and water inclusions, a work vehicle, a meat allowance, and a dog feed allowance. Above all, you get structured training, professional upskilling, and a clear internal career advancement trajectory.

To apply, submit your resume and a cover letter detailing your livestock experience, motorbike skills, and working dog setup. For a confidential discussion, call John Boote on 0428 245 261.
