Role purpose
Assess our client's websites, applications, forms, documents and digital services for accessibility barriers and compliance with applicable WCAG requirements. Provide evidence, practical remediation advice and user-impact assessments to support quality and release decisions.
Work and expected outputs
- Assess WCAG 2.1 and/or 2.2 Level A/AA criteria as applicable. Test keyboard navigation, focus, labels, errors, headings, structure, contrast, resizing, reflow and key user journeys.
- Use screen readers and browser accessibility features alongside automated/semi-automated tools; automation does not replace manual assessment. Check accessible documents where required.
- Record prioritised defects and WCAG evidence; guide developers, designers, content owners and vendors on remediation and residual risks. Improve reusable accessibility checks and reports.
Essential skills and experience
- ISTQB Foundation or higher certification, OR equivalent demonstrated testing experience.
- Active minimum NV1 security clearance; NV2 preferred under the general SOR requirement.
- Accessibility testing of websites, web applications, digital services, forms and online transactions
- Strong WCAG 2.1 and/or 2.2 knowledge, including Level A/AA success criteria.
- Manual keyboard, focus-order, screen-reader, meaningful-sequence, labels, instructions, errors and form testing.
- Assistive technologies such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, Narrator or equivalent.
- Tools such as axe DevTools, WAVE, Lighthouse, Accessibility Insights, ARC Toolkit or equivalent.
- Identify, document, prioritise and communicate defects to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Practical remediation advice aligned to WCAG and inclusive design.
- Testing responsive web interfaces, portals, forms, content pages and transactional services.
- Azure DevOps or similar for planning, execution, defects, reporting and traceability.
- Strong written/verbal communication, accessibility reports and release-readiness advice.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills considering user impact, compliance risk and business priority.
Desirable experience
- IMD testing procedures, QAS and release/change practices.
- Accessibility testing in secure government, regulated or complex enterprise environments.
- Salesforce, SmartIQ and Microsoft Power Apps.
- Cloud-hosted, on-premises, portal and integrated enterprise applications.
- Accessible PDFs, Word documents, online forms and templates.
- HTML, CSS, ARIA, JavaScript and front-end accessibility patterns.
- Technical guidance to developers/designers on remediation.
- Standards, checklists, reusable scripts, defect libraries and continuous improvement.
- Accessibility assessment in Agile/sprint testing, UAT, regression and release readiness.
- Inclusive design, usability, user-experience evaluation and assistive-technology users.
