Glenelg Shire Council, in partnership with Westvic Staffing Solutions, is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Parks and Gardens Apprentice to join the Parks and Gardens team.
This is a great opportunity for someone with an interest in horticulture, gardening and working outdoors to begin a rewarding career in local government. As part of the role, you will provide gardening and maintenance services across Council's parks, gardens, reserves, ovals, street trees and other public open spaces, while delivering quality customer service and improving the appearance of the shire.
What you need to succeed:
To be successful in this role, you will have a genuine interest in horticulture, gardening and outdoor maintenance, along with a strong desire to learn and develop practical skills in the industry.
You will be willing to undertake a Certificate III in Parks and Gardens qualification and apply your learning in a hands-on maintenance environment. You will have the ability to work safely, follow instructions, perform manual tasks and develop skills in the user of small plant and equipment such as mowers, brush cutters, chainsaws, spray units and other machinery. You will also bring a positive attitude, good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
