Your new role
Shape communications campaigns that reach Australians nationwide. This is an exciting prospect for an APS6 communications professional to drive high-quality social media, digital content and communication initiatives within a Federal Government department. Working in a collaborative communications team, you'll create engaging content, deliver digital campaigns, manage website content, and help strengthen public understanding of key government programmes and services.
- Develop and publish engaging content across social media and digital channels.
- Plan, create and edit video content for social media, websites and digital campaigns.
- Identify communication risks and opportunities, developing practical mitigation strategies to support coordinated and consistent messaging.
- Use audience insights, stakeholder feedback and evaluation findings to refine communication strategies and improve engagement outcomes.
- Design multimedia assets including graphics, short-form video and visual content.
- Monitor social media performance and provide insights through analytics reporting.
- Support digital campaigns through content planning, audience targeting and optimisation.
- Ensure all content meets accessibility requirements, including WCAG standards.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver effective communication outcomes.
- Contribute to content strategies that increase engagement and audience reach.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience managing social media platforms within a government, corporate or large organisational environment.
- A proactive approach to identifying communication opportunities and anticipating emerging issues.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including the confidence to challenge, influence and guide communication decisions.
- An outcomes-focused mindset, using evidence and audience insights to continually improve communication activities.
- Strong social media video production and editing skills, including filming, post-production and content optimisation.
- Experience using analytics and reporting tools to measure content performance.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
