The Department of Housing and Works delivers and maintains essential social housing and critical infrastructure across Western Australia—including schools, hospitals and police facilities.
We manage tenancy services, support housing provision in remote Aboriginal communities, and oversee government employee accommodation.

About The Role:
The Assistant Director State Fleet leads the team responsible for the management of the State’s portfolio of fleet vehicles. The role leads the management of the portfolio as a commercially viable business, including the development and implementation of policies and practices, and the assessment and management of risk. Strategically leading the team, while building a positive, customer focused culture.
About You:
You are a proven leader who brings strong people leadership, sound management capability and a good understanding of fleet and asset management. You enjoy setting direction, developing your team and creating a positive, customer-focused culture where people are supported to deliver their best.
You exercise sound judgement and commercial awareness, with the ability to navigate complex issues across fleet operations, contracts, financial management, risk and compliance. You are confident providing clear advice, identifying opportunities and risks, and turning challenges into practical solutions.
You are a strong communicator and relationship builder who works collaboratively with customers, government agencies, service providers and other stakeholders. You are comfortable navigating competing priorities,
having challenging conversations and resolving complex matters in a constructive way.
You will bring the leadership, insight and technical understanding to shape the future of State Fleet and deliver a high quality, sustainable service for government and its customers.
This position operates in the context of Leading Leaders. This means you will be required to deliver results through leaders and your teams in a single business area, and by influencing leaders in other business areas. You will add value by providing direction and developing and coaching your leaders to achieve operational objectives. You will make decisions about how services should be provided based on the resources at hand.
