We have some exciting news. Sage x Clare is opening a flagship store on Gertrude Street, Fitzroy, one of Melbourne’s most-loved creative strips, and we’re looking for an Assistant Store Manager (2IC) to help bring it to life.

Working closely with our Store Manager, you’ll be part of the team that opens the store, helping with set-up, merchandising and welcoming new team members. Designed to showcase our full range of bedding, textiles, homewares and lifestyle pieces, the Fitzroy store will be a true home for the Sage x Clare brand.

Once we’re open, you’ll be a hands-on leader on the floor. You’ll lead allocated shifts, step up to run the store when the Store Manager is away, coordinate breaks and floor coverage, and coach the team on product knowledge and service. You’ll also get involved in visual merchandising, receiving and managing stock, opening and closing, and in-store events.

This is a great prospect for someone who has supervised or led shifts before and is keen to keep building their leadership skills in a supportive, creative environment. We’re open to full-time or part-time arrangements for the right person.

About You

You’ll be perfect for this role if you’re warm, organised and naturally take the lead. You love great service, have an eye for styling and enjoy helping others do their best work.

You’ll bring

- Previous retail experience as an assistant manager, supervisor, team leader or senior sales team member (homewares, lifestyle or fashion highly regarded)
- Experience leading shifts and supporting a team to hit sales targets
- Hands-on experience with stock control, visual merchandising, cash handling and opening and closing
- Confidence using POS systems, Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Excellent communication skills and a genuine love of customer service




- A positive, adaptable attitude and a willingness to learn
- Availability across a seven-day trading roster, including weekends

Bonus points if you have:
- Experience helping to open a new store
- A genuine interest in homewares, textiles and interiors
