What you'll do
UniSQ is seeking an innovative and collaborative Lecturer who is passionate about excellence in teaching, curriculum design and pedagogical practice. Dedicated to advancing the field of First Nations Education, you will contribute to high-quality teaching, impactful research, and meaningful engagement across our Initial Teacher Education and Bachelor of Education and Master of Education programs. This role offers the opportunity to inspire future educators across diverse learning contexts - including regional, rural, and remote settings - while contributing to locally grounded, globally relevant research and curriculum design that supports transformational educational outcomes.
As a Lecturer (Curriculum and Pedagogy – First Nations) you will:
- Deliver engaging and reflective student-centred teaching methods across face-to-face and blended modes leveraging digital technologies.
- Conduct research activities that produce high-quality outputs and generate research income.
- Support the development of research teams and mentor HDR students.
- Contribute to a positive workplace and culture through internal service while also making significant external contributions to the community and profession.
- Actively engage in career development activities and maintain currency in contemporary learning, teaching, and research approaches.
What will help you succeed To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Associate Lecturer - normally an honours degree or higher qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent tertiary qualifications subject to the norms of the discipline.
- Lecturer - normally a doctoral or master's qualification in a relevant discipline is required, or other equivalent qualifications and experience subject to the norms of the discipline.
- Successful teaching experience in schools, and current registration or eligibility for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers. A current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) is required.
- Evidence of demonstrated equivalent accreditation, standing and qualified achievement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Demonstrated capacity to teach curriculum and pedagogy in one or more learning areas within initial teacher education, across on-campus and online delivery.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, and of what pre-service teachers need in order to be ready for the classroom.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering engaged and reflective approaches to teaching that produce the best possible outcomes for students.
- Capacity to bring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges and perspectives to curriculum and pedagogy, and to work alongside colleagues to strengthen these across the programs.
- Demonstrated ability, and standing, to work in relationship with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Elders, schools and sector partners.
- A demonstrated commitment and ability to contribute to the success of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at all levels of study.
- Demonstrated capacity to contribute to curriculum design and review within a university context, and knowledge of the strategies that maintain academic standards, quality and integrity.
Appointment will be made as Associate Lecturer or Lecturer, depending on your qualifications and experience.

Salary
- Level A - Total remuneration range $97,817 to $131,226 pa (includes salary range of $82,493 to $110,669 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading)
- Level B - Total remuneration range $137,920 to $163,017 pa (includes salary of $116,315 to $137,480 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading)
