Position Classification: Health Education Officer Graduate / Health Education Officer Non Graduate

Remuneration: $34.08 - $62.28 per hour

Hours Per Week: 38 (Job Share may be considered for part time hours)

Location: Mount Druitt Aboriginal Health Hub, Mt Druitt Hospital

Where you'll be working

Join the dedicated Aboriginal Health team based at Mt Druitt Aboriginal Health Hub, Mt Druitt Hospital, where community, culture and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do. Working within Western Sydney Local Health District, you will play a vital role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to achieve better health outcomes through prevention, education and early intervention initiatives.

You'll be part of a supportive and culturally connected team committed to delivering high quality, community-led care and making a meaningful difference in the lives of Aboriginal people across Western Sydney.

What you'll be doing

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate health promotion skilled to design, coordinate and deliver evidence-based programs that improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal communities across Western Sydney. You will work closely with community members, health services and key stakeholders to develop initiatives that promote healthier lifestyles, prevent chronic disease and strengthen access to culturally responsive healthcare.

· Develop,



implement and evaluate Aboriginal-specific health promotion and education programs focused on areas such as chronic disease prevention, smoking cessation, nutrition, healthy lifestyles and community wellbeing

· Lead the planning and delivery of community workshops, awareness campaigns, health events and culturally appropriate education initiatives

· Build and maintain strong partnerships with Aboriginal communities, healthcare providers, community organisations and external stakeholders

· Develop resources, project plans and health promotion strategies aligned with Aboriginal health priorities, policy frameworks and Closing the Gap objectives

· Monitor program outcomes, maintain reporting requirements and use evidence-based approaches to continuously improve service delivery and community impact

Essential Criteria:

· License: Current Driver’s Licence valid in NSW

· Qualification: Relevant qualifications in social sciences, health or related field

Selection Criteria:

- This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
- Relevant qualifications in social sciences, health or related field
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultures and have established links with their local Aboriginal community.
- Demonstrated understanding of health issues that affect Aboriginal communities and strategies to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal people
- Demonstrated knowledge and / or experience in developing, implementing, reviewing,



and evaluating culturally appropriate health education / health promotion / community development programs and initiatives to Aboriginal communities
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain successful partnerships with relevant partners including government and non-government organisations and community based organisations.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as a member of a multidisciplinary team with excellent organisational, written and verbal communication skills.
- Current Drivers Licence valid within New South Wales and the willingness and ability to travel
