Lexis Education Group is looking for an experienced and passionate Barista to join our team in Brisbane as a Casual Barista Trainer.
This is a practical, hands-on role delivering a short barista course designed to give students real-world coffee and café skills. As this is a short, non-accredited course, a TAE qualification is not required. We’re looking for someone with strong, recent commercial barista experience who can confidently demonstrate practical skills and engage with students.
What you’ll be teaching
Students will develop practical skills across areas including:
- Espresso coffee preparation
- Using and operating commercial coffee machines
- Coffee grinding and extraction
- Milk texturing and steaming
- Basic latte art
- Preparing a range of café-style coffees
- Coffee presentation and consistency
- Cleaning and maintaining coffee equipment
- Café workflow and organisation
- Customer service
- Food safety and workplace hygiene
- Real-world café and hospitality expectations
We want students to learn how coffee actually works in a busy café setting, not just follow a recipe.
Who we're looking for
You might be an experienced Barista, Café Manager,
Café Supervisor or Hospitality Professional who enjoys working with people and sharing your knowledge.
You’ll be someone who
- Has recent and genuine commercial barista experience
- Is confident using a commercial espresso machine
- Has strong knowledge of coffee preparation and café operations
- Enjoys teaching and working with people
- Can demonstrate practical skills clearly and patiently
- Is energetic, approachable and engaging
- Understands what employers expect from café staff
- Takes pride in helping beginners develop their confidence
