We are welcoming applications for a full time, ongoing position within our Boarding House, as well as expressions of interest for casual positions.
MLC is one of Melbourne’s leading independent girls’ schools, renowned for excellence, care, and holistic student development. We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and highly organised Boarding House Supervisor to join our vibrant Boarding community in a permanent ongoing role.
We also welcome casual expressions of interest from individuals who would like to contribute to our Boarding program on an ad-hoc or flexible basis.
This role provides high-quality care, supervision, and pastoral support for our boarding students, including evening and overnight shifts, and plays a vital part in maintaining a warm, secure, and inclusive residential environment.
Key Responsibilities
Student Wellbeing
- Support Boarding House routines and uphold daily protocols
- Foster a warm, inclusive, and supportive community
- Provide responsive pastoral care and guidance to students
- Escort students to medical appointments when required
- Promote healthy living, wellbeing habits, and positive relationships
Supervision of Boarding Students
- Ensure an environment that enhances each student’s self-esteem and sense of belonging
- Care for students with compassion, consistency, and fairness
- Ensure student compliance with College policies
- Maintain accurate leave records and ensure all students are accounted for
- Supervise homework and study time, including tutoring when required
- Assist with security checks, locking up, and routine operational duties
- Follow established Boarding House routines and expectations
- Participate in overnight supervision as rostered
Administration & Communication
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with College processes
- Complete detailed handover notes via Orah (Boarding House app)
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with students, families, and staff
- Contribute positively to the Boarding House team culture
- Support College operations, events, and systems as required
- Participate in training, meetings, and professional development
- Assist with induction of new staff

- Build strong, supportive relationships with colleagues across the College

About You — Person Specification
Essential
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly organised, reliable, and attentive to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency with digital tools and administrative systems
- Passion for supporting young people and their development
- Honesty, integrity, and professionalism
- Internationally minded with the ability to work in a diverse community
- Relevant qualifications or experience
- Current VIT Registration or Employee Working With Children Check
- Current Australian working rights
- Alignment with MLC’s values and commitment to student wellbeing
- Ability to drive (for student transport and appointments)
Desirable
- Previous experience in a boarding facility or similar environment
- Teaching experience, education qualifications, or current tertiary study in an education-related field
- Level 2 First Aid qualification
- Experience supporting students in residential or pastoral settings
