To construct, repair, and restore walls, partitions, and other structures using bricks, concrete blocks, and other masonry materials, ensuring structural integrity and aesthetic appeal. Also interpret blueprints, measure and cut materials, and apply appropriate techniques to complete projects efficiently and safely.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interpreting plans and specifications to determine the required materials, dimensions, and installation procedures for brick and blockwork project.
- Laying bricks and blocks in specified patterns and designs, applying mortar between joints, and ensuring proper embedding and alignment.
- Cutting, shaping, and polishing stones and bricks using appropriate tools and machinery to fit irregular spaces and achieve desired finishes.
- Erecting and dismantling scaffolding safely for restricted height work to facilitate construction and repair activities.
- Constructing and repairing masonry structures, including walls, foundations, and monumental masonry, ensuring structural integrity and aesthetic quality.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV
- Proven experience as a bricklayer or relevant qualification in masonry.
- Solid understanding if building plans, materials and installation procedures.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to high quality workmanship.
- Technical Proficiency in Masonry Tools and Equipment: skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and masonry machines.
- Customer service focused: committed to providing exceptional customer service across all channels — written, phone and face to face
- Communication: the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience
- Attention to detail: excellent attention to detail and written skills when communicating with others, both intemally and externally
