Most manager roles ask you to keep the compliance running. This one asks you to find the question nobody else has thought to ask.

Quantum House Australia and Australian Tax Experts are two brands of one Sydney CBD practice, in business since 2010. We are deliberately small. Our clients are not — we act for businesses and private groups with turnover of up to $300 million, across construction, childcare, medical, hospitality and e-commerce, together with a substantial international client base.

What that combination gives you is unusual: the technical work of a much larger firm, without the layers between you and it. Complex group structures, cross-border issues, contentious matters and ATO dispute resolution are not escalated away from you here. They are the reason the role exists.

The role

· Owning client relationships — you are the person they ring, not the person who prepares the file for someone else to ring them about.

· Reviewing compliance work and setting the technical standard for what leaves this office.

· Leading the team through the genuinely difficult engagements — the ones where the answer is not in the software.

What you will bring

· CA or CPA qualification (Australia), current and in good standing.

· A minimum of eight years in Australian public practice.

· Confident accrual-basis accounting — AASBs, financial reporting obligations, leases, inventories and the judgement calls that come with them.

· Advanced tax capability across Division 7A, the taxation of trusts, GST, LCT and WET,



with working exposure to international measures including CFC rules and transfer pricing.

· Above all, the appetite to take on a type of work you have never done before and get it right.

What we offer

· A package from $140,000 inclusive of superannuation, with room to move for the right person, reviewed on successful completion of your first year.

· A performance bonus of up to 15% of annual salary each year, available from your first anniversary.

· Adaptable working arrangements after twelve months of service.

· A genuine pathway to equity partnership after two years at manager level, on terms we will set out openly at interview.

· Direct working access to the Managing Director, and to the firm’s most demanding work, from your first month.

Who this suits

If you are a manager in a mid-tier or boutique firm who is technically ambitious and can see that the next rung above you is occupied for the foreseeable future, this is worth a conversation.
