Are you an experienced café all-rounder who enjoys preparing fresh food, delivering great customer service, and being part of something meaningful?

Another Wild Thyme Café is more than just a café. As part of National Joblink, we provide training and employment opportunities that help people build confidence, skills, and pathways into work. We’re looking for a friendly and reliable Café Assistant with cooking experience to join our Launceston team on a part-time basis.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll assist with food preparation, customer service, café operations, and support a welcoming environment for customers, trainees, and team members alike.

What you'll be doing

- Preparing and serving a range of café meals, light lunches, cabinet food, and catering items
- Assisting with daily kitchen operations and food preparation
- Providing outstanding customer service and creating a positive café experience
- Operating the point-of-sale system and handling customer transactions
- Assisting with catering orders and event preparation
- Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness
- Supporting trainees and participants as they gain real workplace experience
- Working collaboratively with the café team to ensure smooth daily operations

What we're looking for

- Previous experience working in a café, restaurant, commercial kitchen, or hospitality environment
- Experience preparing and cooking food in a fast-paced setting
- A team player who can build rapport with clients and colleagues while maintaining a fun, supportive, and professional workplace.
- Someone enthusiastic about mentoring and empowering young people from diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities.
- Strong customer service skills and a positive, friendly attitude
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage competing priorities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- High standards of presentation, cleanliness, and food safety




- Reliable, punctual, and willing to take initiative

To be successful, you'll need

- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
- Creativity and a keen eye for detail in food presentation
- Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds is preferred, as you will be working with people facing various barriers to overcome any workplace challenges
- Ability to work autonomously and with initiative
