Join Wagga Wagga City Council’s Infrastructure Services team and play an important role in planning and prioritising Council’s infrastructure capital works program.
As the Capital Works Programmer, you’ll develop and maintain annual and forward capital works programs, using asset condition, risk, service requirements and Council priorities to identify and prioritise projects. Your work will help ensure Council’s infrastructure investment is evidence-based, achievable and aligned with long-term asset management and financial sustainability.
You’ll work closely with engineering, operations, finance, asset management and delivery teams to translate asset information into practical capital works programs that respond to infrastructure needs and community priorities.
The role also provides leadership and support to Asset Officers, making this an opportunity to contribute to both Council’s capital works planning and the development of a team-oriented and accountable team.

- Remuneration of $3,476.98 gross per fortnight with the opportunity to progress to $4,172.38 gross per fortnight + superannuation (12%).

As The Capital Works Programmer, You Will
- Develop and maintain annual and forward capital works programs across Council’s infrastructure assets.
- Use asset condition, risk, inspections and service requirements to identify and prioritise capital renewal and upgrade projects.
- Develop capital works programs that align with available funding, delivery capacity and Council priorities.
- Use asset management systems and data to inform programming and investment decisions.
- Support long-term asset lifecycle planning and alignment with Council’s asset management strategies.
- Prepare programs, reports, briefings and recommendations to support effective decision-making.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, operations, finance, asset management and delivery teams to ensure programs are practical and achievable.
- Lead and support Asset Officers, including allocating work, setting priorities and monitoring performance.
- Support governance, compliance, audit and reporting requirements relating to capital works and asset management.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in capital works planning and programming.
You'll Be Successful In This Role If You
- Have relevant qualifications in infrastructure, asset management, planning, project delivery or a related discipline.
- Have substantial experience in capital works planning, asset management or infrastructure programming.
- Can analyse asset condition, risk and service information to prioritise capital investment.
- Understand infrastructure asset lifecycle management and renewal planning.
- Have strong analytical, problem-solving and planning skills.
- Are confident using asset management systems, GIS and Microsoft Office.
- Have well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Can lead and support a team while working effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Are organised, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities.
- Have a strong focus on safety, service delivery, value for money and continuous improvement.
