Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners eligible for registration in New South Wales for the above position within the Department of Paediatric Medicine, Central Coast Local Health District CCLHD. This position is primarily based at Wyong Hospital, though should the service requirements change the candidate may be required to work from other hospitals within CCLHD.

Applicants should be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and / or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

Central Coast is comprised of the twin areas of Gosford and Wyong, positioned between Sydney and Newcastle, which are collectively expected to grow from the current approximate 300,000 to 450,000 population before 2030. The Local Health District has strong connections with both Royal North Shore Hospital and the University of Newcastle.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

1. 1. Medical Practitioner registered or able to be registered in Australia, inclusive of an unrestricted 19AB exempted provider number.
2. Recognised specialist qualifications, Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and / or other equivalent specialist recognition. (Applicants expecting to be awarded their fellowship within three months may be considered. If successful the applicant will not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.)
3. Experience in the practice of Paediatrics and Paediatric service development
4. Understanding of Paediatric Hospital avoidance model, ambulatory and acute paediatric models of care.
5. Demonstrated high level of communication and interpersonal skills, incuding an ability to provide mentorship and work as a team member in a multidisciplinary environment.
6. An active commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of medical, nursing and allied health professionals. While demonstrating ability to provide and promote leadership to all and by all medical staff within the Paediatrics Department.
7. Experience in and or the ability in ensuring clinical governance excellence and operational integrity across a Paediatrics Department and maintaining all aspects of clinical governance across the 8 National Quality and Safety Standards in Paediatrics.
8. Demonstrate a commitment to work, health and safety (WH&S;) and the positive patient experience. Demonstrated commitment to Caring for the Coast vision, goals and strategies, with demonstrated behaviours which align to the NSW CORE values and CCLHD Values and Behaviours charter.
