Ocean and Paddock Albany is the very best at what we do, we are a chef's version of the humble Aussie Fish and Chip Shop and have taken it to a whole other level. We are the number rated restaurant in Albany on Trip advisor and also awarded the Best Fish and Chips in W.A and Australia in 2026. We are great not because we have a huge team of highly trained chefs and waitstaff but because we have an amazing team of people who care about food, who are passionate about customers and don't have big egos.

About the role

We are looking for a chef that is great on the tools but more importantly is a nice person. It's 2026 so the old idea of a chef yelling and screaming is done. We want kind, calm understanding staff that want to be part of something special.

We have staff accommodation available in a stunning 5 bedroom plus studio house walking distance to work and the city center.

Key responsibilities

- Nurture and train the new young staff members.
- Place the team first and understand what it means to be part of a team, if we are behind on dishes get in and help, if front of house needs help clearing tables get in their.
- Be kind, be considerate and be calm under pressure.
- Ensure all opening, closing and cleaning checklists are completed.

What we're looking for

- Proven experience working as a Chef in a professional kitchen or hospitality environment, with a solid understanding of culinary techniques and food preparation
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety regulations, and best practices in kitchen management
- Excellent organizational and time management skills,



with the ability to priorities tasks effectively during busy service periods
- Creativity and passion for cooking, with a genuine interest in developing new dishes and exploring culinary innovation
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team whilst also maintaining independence and taking initiative when required
- Strong communication skills and the capacity to work effectively under pressure
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods whilst maintaining high standards of work
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality results
- Relevant culinary qualifications or apprenticeships are highly desirable
- Experience with local or seasonal produce is advantageous
