Matilda Mont Albert and Petite by Matilda are our two cafes located in the heart of Mont Albert North. We are a local and loved cafe, who is on the lookout for an experienced chef to join our team. This would be a permanent role between both of our venues, and has the opportunity to be part time or full time.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead weekend kitchen service and confidently run the pass.
- Lead a small kitchen team, ensuring a smooth and efficient service.
- Take ownership of the kitchen and lead our small team in the Head Chef’s absence.
- Ensure food is prepared and presented consistently to our recipes and standards.
- Maintain appropriate prep levels and keep the kitchen organised and service-ready.
- Manage stock levels, rotation and ordering requirements.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness and organisation.
- Communicate clearly with the FOH and kitchen teams to keep service running smoothly.

What We’re Looking For




- Must be available Friday, Saturday & Sunday.
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a professional kitchen, ideally in a busy café environment.
- Strong à la carte experience and proven experience running a busy service and pass.
- Strong organisation, time management and attention to detail.
- Calm, productive and confident under pressure.
- A positive team player who can lead by example.
- Cert III in Commercial Cookery preferred.
- Food Safety Supervisor certification preferred.
